On the next episode of "When I Was 17," Mark Hoppus, bassist for blink-182 and host of Fuse's "Hoppus on Music," sheds light on what his life was like before he was asking "What's my age again?"

Surprisingly (except not at all), he was as out of control back then as he is now, as he reveals on the episode, airing Saturday at 11 a.m. ET/PT.

"We were really smart as high-schoolers. We had a friend, his name was Dave, he had a two-story house, and in the backyard of his house was a pool. And his parents would leave for days at a time, so of course, Dave's a responsible guy, he wouldn't let anything bad happen. So we would jump off a second-story roof into the pool," admitted Hoppus, who just finished up on the Honda Civic Tour alongside My Chemical Romance. "We called it Acapulco cliff diving."

"It was definitely high enough so that if you jumped in, you had to turn your body as soon as possible so that you didn't eat your knees," he added.

While at first it started off safe — well, sort of — Acapulco cliff diving soon became more and more competitive as time went on.

"At first I think it was cannonballs and feet first, and then we'd one-up each other and by the end, people were doing flips. I definitely dove headfirst into this pool. It's a miracle that we're still here."

And a miracle it is, Mark. Because we can't imagine what life would have been like without some Blink-182.

Don't miss this week's episode of "When I Was 17," featuring Mark Hoppus, Sean Kingston and Tiffani Thiessen, at 11 a.m. Saturday on MTV.

Britney Spears' 'Criminal' Director Talks Gun Controversy

'It blew me away that members of [the British] Parliament were speaking about this,' Chris Marrs Piliero tells MTV News.

When Britney Spears hit London to shoot her "Criminal" video, she caused quite a stir. The singer immediately was criticized by local officials for her use of a gun in the sexy, crime-fantasy clip. Spears addressed the issue, shrugging off the controversy, and this week, fans finally got to see what all the fuss was about when the steamy clip dropped.

MTV News spoke to the video's director, Chris Marrs Piliero, who said he was surprised the video's gunplay became such a big deal.

"Holding the gun became a controversial thing 'cause we filmed it in London, and they don't have a lot of gun use out there," he explained. "That doesn't mean that there's no gun use, so I did find it really interesting. For me, the thing is, it blew me away that members of [the British] Parliament were speaking about this. One, because it's a music video, and two, because don't you guys have television shows out there that show crime?

"It's really strange to me," he continued, adding just what bothered him most about the controversy: "I don't understand why pop stars are put on such a high pedestal over other celebrities. Why do members of Parliament feel that they need to scrutinize her for having a gun, and 'She's in the public,' and 'She should know better,' and 'She's a role model,' but what about every other celebrity out there? What about every other actor? That's very strange to me. I was really surprised at how much the gun use was scrutinized."

Plus, Piliero said it makes sense that the couple, played by Britney and her real-life boyfriend, Jason Trawick, are using guns. "He's a professional criminal, so it makes sense he has a gun," the director said. "We shouldn't censor ourselves."

Cameron Diaz's Halloween Party Costume: A Stripper!

Looking as if she threw her costume together at the very last minute, Cameron Diaz decided to dress up as a stripper for a friend's Halloween bash in Los Angeles on Friday night (October 28).

The "Bad Teacher" actress sported an all-black ensemble consisting of a cleavage-baring top, tight black leather pants and towering heels while tucking a few dollar bills in her waistband for the masquerade party.

The Halloween outing was a solo effort for Cameron - as the 39-year-old is currently single after recently splitting from Yankees slugger beau Alex Rodriguez.

With the two pulling the plug on their on/off status in September, a source told Us of the situation, "She's very busy with her career. They're still very friendly and like each other."

¿Y a ti? ¿Qué te parece todo esto?

It's time to get in the holiday spirit! On Friday (October 21), radio station Z100, with the help of pop star Demi Lovato, announced the lineup for their 2011 Jingle Ball concert.

All you Little Monsters better mark your calendars, because Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga, will be headlining the big event. The holiday concert will take place on Friday, December 9, at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

Lovato, who is also hitting the stage at Jingle Ball, helped announce the lineup at the official kickoff party at the Aéropostale store in Times Square, where she also performed. The singer took the stage in front of a crowd filled with her fans (a.k.a. Lovatics) and sang four songs, including her cover of Lil Wayne's "How to Love" and her hit single off her Unbroken album, "Skyscraper." Lovato sat down with MTV News before the big event and told us just how thrilled she is to be a part of the big show.

"I just know I'm performing at Jingle Ball and that I'm really excited," Lovato said. "I'm going to the Aéropostale store and I'm announcing the Jingle Ball lineup."

Of course, Gaga and Lovato aren't the only acts hitting the stage. Pitbull, LMFAO, super-producer David Guetta, and Lovato's personal favorite, Kelly Clarkson, will also be in attendance.

"I used to go to her concerts and now I'm performing with her," Lovato said of sharing the stage with Clarkson.

But wait, there's more! Gym Class Heroes, rockers Foster the People and pop newbies Hot Chelle Rae will also perform before the New York crowd.

Tickets for Z100's Jingle Ball go on sale November 1.

Jason Voorhees Creeps Up On MTV's Killer Halloween

Terror of Camp Crystal Lake joins Freddy Krueger on our list of horror icons: Vote for the deadliest in our poll!
By Kevin P. Sullivan

MTV News kicked off our Killer Halloween with Freddy Krueger on Monday (October 24), but now it's time to take a look at one of his rivals: "Friday the 13th" terror Jason Voorhees. If you're just tuning in, each day we'll profile two of cinema's deadliest serial killers and ask you to help create the ultimate ranking. Each villain will be ranked from 1 to 5 on a number of deadly attributes, so check back all week for new profiles and new polls, and help decide on the deadliest of them all.

Head over to our Movies Blog poll to determine which horror icon has style to die for!

Jason Voorhees
Occupation: Mongoloid

Weapons: Machete, the teenage libido

Arch-Enemies: Swimming, campers, Freddy Kruger

Profile: You know the saying: Hell hath no fury like a mongoloid serial killer with mommy issues. Jason Voorhees has more than a few things he should discuss with a therapist. His mother, a cook at Camp Crystal Lake, lost her mind when Jason drowned and went on a murderous rampage, killing the canoodling counselors and Kevin Bacon in the process.

But Mrs. Voorhees met a very headless end, when one of the counselors decapitated her with a machete, thus handing the camp reigns over to her recently resurrected son, Jason. Wearing a hood over his head to mask his disfigurements, he laid low for a while, hiding out in the woods and a cabin near Crystal Lake. Jason eventually proved more than any sociopathic mother could have ever asked for, killing counselors left and right. He took up that iconic hockey mask in the third installment.

While Jason is known for his slow gait, Detroit Redwings mask and machete, he could just as well be known for his many, many resurrections. Campers at Crystal Lake need to learn a simple equation: dead Jason plus electricity equals alive and pissed-off Jason. After two official deaths, Jason earned supernatural powers of regeneration that made him virtually indestructible. His newfound powers allowed him to be frozen and, in turn, to travel 400 years into the future in "Jason X."

Jason's most recent resurrection came at the razor-sharp hands of Freddy Kruger, who pretended to be Mrs. Voorhees in order to revive Jason. The two eventually faced off, but neither emerged as the clear winner.

Check out everything we've got on "Friday the 13th."

Lady Gaga, Beyonce And More Musical Halloween Costumes

If you're too broke to go trick-or-treating, Bigger Than the Sound is here to help!
By James Montgomery

Halloween is just around the corner, and even though times are tough, that doesn't mean you shouldn't still have a kick-ass costume. And since no one wants to end up trick or treating as a lame ghost (or a "sexy border patrol agent"), I'm here to help, with a handful of homemade Halloween costumes that allow you to still dress up as your favorite artist, while not breaking the bank.

Of course, if you don't have a bank to break, fret not, because a lot of my ideas don't require a costume at all — just your imagination, a fierce attitude and an awareness of irony that borders on, well, ironic. So, if you're at a loss for your next costume — or too broke to care — read on, because, boy, do I have some suggestions for you. After all, Halloween is for everyone (especially those who love candy), and who among us doesn't want to dress up like Coldplay?!? Have a look, and send me some candy!

Adele: Deceptively easy. Refrain from speaking to anyone all night (vocal rest!) while firing through Marlboros like a mahjong player on a bender. For added authenticity, sell approximately one bazillion albums.

Beyoncé: Take a balloon and stuff it beneath your $10,000 Reed Krakoff dress, mimic B's matronly glow with a $7,000 HD Ruby and Diamond Peel Facial, strap your $1,200 Christian Louboutin heels on extra tight to replicate the ankle-swelling side effects of pregnancy. Or just down a crate of Four Loko and get all crazy like the "Ring the Alarm" video.

Britney Spears: Get a boyfriend with exactly 24 rippling abdominal muscles. Consume Strawberry Frappuccinos as if they were being discontinued. Be a commercially viable force, much to the consternation of critics and naysayers the world over. Say "y'all" a lot.

Coldplay: Dress in matching, finger-painted outfits with three of your closest friends (or, in a pinch, tattered French Revolutionary garb). Donate all your candy to Oxfam. Hang out with Brian Eno. Maintain an almost annoying level of self-efficacy.

Justin Bieber: Just get a snake named Johnson.

Kanye West: Communicate to every single person you meet as if you were speaking in ALL CAPS. Wear sunglasses, even at night. Have a bizarre thing for the Olsen twins. Over-share when it comes to your personal feelings and sexual proclivities. Create complex, Machiavellian conspiracy theories. Treat every comment and criticism as if it were a flaming sword to the torso. Cut a Maybach in half with your pal Jay-Z.

Katy Perry: Dress up as a mermaid. Or a gawky, orthodontically enhanced pre-teen. Or an S&M cheetah. Or a space alien. Or, really, you could just lick a bunch of candy and stick it to various parts of your body. Katy's simple.

Lady Gaga: Sure, you could go the easy route and just trick or treat as Jo Calderone (and deliver a lengthy monologue while doing so), but where's the fun in that? Instead, why not meld yourself with a motorcycle, like the British boxer-turned-model, make a drug-fueled music video with him. Note: May not get you a ton of candy on the farms of Northern Ireland.
